Feeling Good

Feeling Good

Words and Music by Brian Griffin (4-19-2003)

There’s too much misery in the world today
(That’s no great newsflash, nothing new left to say)
But there are people who choose to be
(The judges and the jury of society)
They condemn and accuse from their lofty perch
(Don’t care about who they harm or who they hurt)
Look down on others by bending the word
(There’s one thing that they haven’t heard)

I’m feeling good, despite your scolding eyes
I’m feeling good, glad to be alive
And if you think you’re better than me
Then you better change what you believe

Well you deal in guilt and you deal in need
(You need to have power over everything you see)
If someone won’t give in  to you
(you’ll pass pious judgment on them and all they do)
You think that you have some special rights
(That you hold over others, looking for a fight)
But I won’t fight you I’ll just pass you by
(You can’t decide how I live and die) no

I’m feeling good, yeah I’m feeling alright
Though you try to tear me down, destroy the light
I won’t give in to you and your closed mind beliefs
You have no power over me

You want to destroy me and cause me pain
(And the worse I feel, the more you gain)
But I’m not falling in your petty traps
(I can see all the grace that you lack)
So go on now, go on your way
(Move on along now and really learn how to pray)
Don’t judge the next person whom you disapprove
(Because there’s a higher power judging you)

I’m feeling good, yeah I’m doing OK
I’m not bowing down to your bitter ways
I’m feeling good cause I know the truth
I don’t need forgiveness from you

I’m feeling good, oh yeah, I’m feeling alight
I’m feeling good, oh yeah, I’m feeling alight
I’m feeling good, oh yeah, I’m feeling alight
I’m feeling good, oh yeah, I’m feeling alight
