I’ve spent my life trying to find
The deep elusive truth
A blueprint to some happiness
I keep searching for the proof
People ask why I bother at all
It’s a war you’ll never win
They say it’s part of growing up
But I say it’s giving in
Holding on to dreams you have
Can be so hard at times
What is the best path for you
Can’t be seen through others eyes
They’ll look and see nothing there and say
You won’t rise above the din
They tell you It’s just growing up
But I say it’s giving in
What can you do when what you do
Is not within the lines
That society has outlined for you
And you’re running out of time
You’re told that you should move on now
A new life you should begin
Then you will be growing up
But I say it’s giving in

I will hold this hope close to my heart
Until the day I die
That I will reach the goal I see
The day will finally arrive
When the world will stop and look
At the beauty we all have within
And my kids will be allowed to grow up
Without giving in
I’ll keep seeking a world of peace
